JourneyHome “Journey” is an art book that reflects Zixi’s concern for marginalized groups, particularly individuals living with physical disabilities. Using photography as the primary medium, the project depicts everyday challenges faced by people in wheelchairs—struggling to reach items on high supermarket shelves, being unable to climb rugged terrain, or constantly moving at a slower pace. It also raises questions about the meaning of assistance, and how disabled individuals navigate both physical and psychological delays. The book’s materiality underscores its themes: the cover and pages are bound with rope, while fabric cut from Zixi’s own pants is collaged onto the covers, adding a layer of personal intimacy and embodied reflection.
